British traveler and popular blogger Harry Jaggard says his personal experience in Azerbaijan convinced him that the country is one of the safest and most hospitable destinations in the world.
Jaggard shared an experience he had while visiting the southern Azerbaijani city of Lankaran, according to Baku TV.
The blogger said he accidentally left a bag containing a large amount of money at a local recreation center. Despite the venue being busy with visitors, no one touched his belongings.
When Jaggard returned to collect the bag, he tried to leave a tip for the restaurant staff as a gesture of gratitude. However, the employees refused the money, telling him that keeping a guest’s belongings safe was simply their duty and part of Azerbaijani hospitality.
Recreation center administrator Samir Mammadov said the bag had been left on a table and was immediately moved to a storage cabinet monitored by security cameras.
Jaggard returned about two hours later and found that all of his money and valuables were still inside. He again offered the staff a financial reward, but they declined.
Mammadov said the establishment’s main goal is to provide visitors with a comfortable experience, allowing them to enjoy Lankaran’s famous tea and the region’s scenic nature.
