The first group of 32 Azerbaijani students has arrived in Kazakhstan’s North Kazakhstan region to begin their studies at Kozybayev University.

University officials said more than 100 Azerbaijani citizens are expected to start studying in Kazakhstan in 2026, reflecting growing interest in the country’s higher education opportunities, Qazinform News Agency reports.

The students have enrolled in bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral programs across a wide range of fields, including finance and economics, chemistry, engineering and information technology.

The increasing number of international students is being supported by the Study in Kazakhstan initiative launched by Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Science and Higher Education.

As part of the initiative, Kozybayev University representatives visited Azerbaijan in March 2025 and May 2026, participating in education exhibitions in Baku. The university presented its academic programs, admission requirements and career opportunities to prospective Azerbaijani students.

The arrival of the Azerbaijani students is also expected to strengthen academic and scientific cooperation between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan, creating new opportunities for exchanges and joint projects between universities in both countries.
