The trial of Abdulla Ibrahimli, Ibrahim Asadli, Elchin Bayramli, and Mehman Zeynalov, who were accused of distributing materials promoting communist ideology on social media and attempting to organize a march with USSR flags in Baku, has concluded.

The verdict was delivered during a hearing at Baku's Nizami District Court, The Caspian Post reports, citing APA.

Under the court's decision, Abdulla Ibrahimli and Ibrahim Asadli were each sentenced to two years in prison. Elchin Bayramli and Mehman Zeynalov were each sentenced to one and a half years in prison.

In November last year, videos circulated on social media showing a group of individuals attempting to stage a march in Baku carrying USSR flags as part of efforts to promote communist ideology.

Following operational measures conducted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the alleged organizers of the planned march-Abdulla Ibrahimli, Ibrahim Asadli, Elchin Bayramli, and Mehman Zeynalov-were identified and detained. A court subsequently ordered that all four suspects be placed in pretrial detention for a period of three months.

The four defendants were charged under Article 233 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan, which covers organizing or actively participating in actions that contribute to the violation of public order.
