Iranian actor Pejman Jamshidi has been sentenced to 99 lashes over an extramarital affair, The Caspian Post reports, citing the local newspaper Tages Anzeiger.

According to the newspaper, the 48-year-old actor, who was accused of having an affair with a young actress, was acquitted of rape charges but was found liable for "illegal relations" and will face punishment.

In October 2025, the young actress anonymously filed a complaint against the well-known actor. Jamshidi was briefly detained before being released on bail and leaving the country. After the actress appeared publicly, he returned to Iran and agreed to cooperate with the investigation.
