Iranian authorities have carried out the death sentences of two men convicted of involvement in the killing of security personnel during protests in Isfahan in January 2026.

The execution was announced by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), which identified the two men as Abolfazl Sepahi Badjani and Amirhossein Safari Hosseinabadi, The Caspian Post reports via IRGC.

The men were involved in an incident at Shahid Alikhani Square in Isfahan during protests earlier this year.

Iranian authorities alleged that the two convicts attacked law enforcement officers during the unrest.

The men tied security personnel to a road sign, attacked them with stones, doused them with gasoline and set them on fire.

The victims were dragged along the ground while still alive before being attacked with knives and blades.

The death sentences were carried out shortly before the statement was released.
