The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Azerbaijan celebrated Indonesia’s 80th Independence Day with a series of events under the theme “United and Sovereign, Prosperous People, Advanced Indonesia.”
The centerpiece of the celebrations was a Flag Hoisting Ceremony, led by Charge d’Affaires Mrs. Merita Yenni and attended by Indonesian citizens and friends of Indonesia in Azerbaijan, The Caspian Post informs via local media.
Indonesian students studying in Baku raised the national flag while the national anthem, Indonesia Raya, played.
The ceremony included a moment of silence honoring the heroes of Indonesia’s independence, followed by readings of the Proclamation of Independence, Pancasila, and the Preamble of the 1945 Constitution, and concluded with a prayer and a cake-cutting ceremony.
Earlier, on August 2, 2025, the Embassy organized a fun games day, involving Indonesian citizens and friends of Indonesia. Winners from both adult and children categories were announced during the Flag Hoisting Ceremony and received prizes from the organizers.
Traditional Indonesian dishes and snacks such as sate ayam (chicken satay), soto ayam kampung (traditional chicken soup), and wajik (sticky rice cake) were also served, adding to the festive atmosphere.
The celebrations highlighted Indonesia’s rich cultural heritage and strengthened ties with the local community in Baku, marking the official conclusion of the 80th Independence Day festivities.
