The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry has announced that the Republic of Cyprus pledged to assist in advancing the peace process in the South Caucasus during its forthcoming EU presidency.
The announcement was made following a phone talk between Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and Cypriot Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos, The Caspian Post informs via the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.
During the phone call, Kombos congratulated Azerbaijan on its progress in normalizing relations with Armenia, achieved during the trilateral summit in Washington on August 8.
The ministry said that the phone conversation covered plans related to Cyprus’ EU Council presidency in the first half of 2026, as well as regional issues. The Cypriot side expressed readiness to support the peace process in the region during its EU presidency.
