Kyrgyzstan Plans to Adopt Azerbaijan's Advanced Seismic Construction Methods

Kyrgyzstan is planning to study and later adopt Azerbaijan’s advanced experience in earthquake-resistant construction, as both countries aim to strengthen urban safety in seismic zones.

Kyrgyz Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing and Communal Services Nurdan Oruntaev said that the issue is especially relevant because both capitals are located in areas of heightened seismic activity, The Caspian Post reports via Report.

He noted that while outlines of potential joint construction projects between Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan were formed in the post-Soviet period, real institutional cooperation between the two countries’ relevant agencies had remained limited for many years.

“Honestly, there were no ties, and World Urban Forum 13 became one of the reasons to restart dialogue. First of all, it is a platform for exchanging experience aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation,” the minister said.

He also praised the rapid development of Azerbaijan’s construction sector, adding that Kyrgyzstan is ready to share its own expertise and, if needed, involve Azerbaijani specialists in technical assessments and consultations.

The minister emphasized that the forum has become an important platform for activating professional contacts and showcasing modern urban planning practices.

“We are very inspired by the warm welcome we received. We are glad that our Azerbaijani brothers provided us with an excellent opportunity to present the potential of Kyrgyz urban development on the international stage,” he concluded.
