Azerbaijan’s judo team has made a powerful mark on the international stage, winning five medals across major tournaments in Türkiye, Georgia, and Tajikistan.
Leading the success, Nihad Mamishov (66kg) and Farid Rzazade (50kg) captured gold medals at the Istanbul Junior European Cup 2026 and the Tbilisi Cadet European Cup 2026, respectively, The Caspian Post reports via local media.
Bronze medals were secured by Aykhan Mirzazade (60kg) and Sadiq Isgandarli (66kg), both competing in Istanbul, as Azerbaijan finished 3rd overall among 27 countries and ranked 2nd in the boys’ category.
In Tbilisi, Rzazade delivered a standout performance, defeating Armen Matevosyan in the final to clinch gold on the opening day.
Meanwhile, Rashid Mammadaliyev (73kg) added another medal to the tally, earning bronze at the Dushanbe Grand Slam 2026.
