Armenia must remove constitutional provisions containing territorial claims against Azerbaijan and Türkiye before a final peace agreement can be signed, Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration, has said.

Speaking to Türkiye's Hajiyev said current indications suggested that Armenia was preparing to begin the process of adopting a new constitution.

"Once these territorial claims are removed from the Constitution, Azerbaijan sees no obstacles to signing a final peace agreement. Moreover, there is already a de facto state of peace in our region," he said.

Hajiyev also highlighted the close ties between Azerbaijan and Türkiye, describing the relationship as one of brotherhood.

"Where Türkiye is absent, Azerbaijan is present, and where Azerbaijan is absent, Türkiye is present. We respond decisively to any steps taken against the interests of our countries, and we will continue to do so," he added.
