An official reception celebrating Italy’s National Day was hosted in Baku.
The event began with the national anthems of Azerbaijan and Italy, The Caspian Post reports.Addressing the ceremony, Italian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Luca Di Gianfrancesco provided insights into the history of diplomatic relations between the two countries, noting that the Italian representative office in Baku was first established in 1919.
The ambassador emphasized that Italy is Azerbaijan’s number one trade partner, while Azerbaijan serves as a pivotal strategic energy supplier to Italy. He expressed Italy’s interest in further strengthening cooperation in non-energy sectors and in the restoration of Azerbaijan’s liberated territories.
Highlighting the strategic partnership between the two countries, which is built on high-level political dialogue, Luca Di Gianfrancesco recalled the meetings held between the heads of state and government in recent years. Touching on cultural cooperation, he praised Azerbaijan’s strong interest in "Made in Italy" products and Italian culture.
In his remarks, Azerbaijani Minister of Science and Education Emin Amrullayev congratulated the Italian government and people, emphasizing that bilateral relations continue to develop at the level of a strategic partnership. He commended the active participation of Italian companies in various sectors across Azerbaijan.
The Minister also highlighted the growing cooperation in science and education, noting that several universities in both countries are engaged in student and teacher exchange programs. He stressed the importance of implementing joint projects and conducting collaborative research in this field.
Emin Amrullayev also praised Italy’s support for and participation in COP29, expressing confidence that future cooperation will continue to expand.
