On August 26, Azerbaijan's Cabinet of Ministers held a special meeting dedicated to the historic Washington visit of President Ilham Aliyev.
Addressing the meeting, Prime Minister Ali Asadov emphasized that President Ilham Aliyev’s triumphant Washington visit has boosted Azerbaijan’s international standing and reputation, opening new opportunities for long-term regional peace, The Caspian Post reports, citing the Cabinet of Ministers.
He noted that the August 8 victory - etched in golden letters in the history of Azerbaijani diplomacy - was the logical result of President Ilham Aliyev's strong leadership, determination, and principled stance.
Highlighting the importance of the meetings held and the documents signed in Washington, the Prime Minister noted that the visit was crucial, on the one hand, for elevating Azerbaijan-US relations to a qualitatively new stage, and on the other hand, for the vital steps taken towards ensuring long-term peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
Emphasizing the importance of the agreement reached on the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP), Ali Asadov noted that this project, in addition to ensuring unimpeded communication between mainland Azerbaijan and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, would give impetus to the development of transport links and the expansion of trade and economic cooperation in the region. In this regard, Asadov noted the need for the government to work daily to implement relevant tasks.
Then, the speakers also included Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev, Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov, Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov, and Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Fuad Najafli.
At the meeting, the tasks facing the government arising from the results of President Ilham Aliyev’s visit to Washington were identified.
