Azerbaijan significantly increased its pear exports during the first four months of 2026, with Russia remaining by far the country's largest export market.
The country exported 2,853 tonnes of pears worth $1.78 million between January and April 2026, The Caspian Post reports via Report.
Compared with the same period last year, export volumes rose by 38%, while export value increased by 18%, reflecting strong international demand for Azerbaijani pears.
Russia accounted for the overwhelming majority of shipments, importing 2,725 tonnes valued at $1.71 million. Azerbaijani pears were also exported to Kazakhstan, Georgia, Syria, and the United Arab Emirates.
In a notable development, Azerbaijan resumed pear exports to Turkmenistan for the first time in 16 years, shipping 3.4 tonnes worth $1,340. The country also exported pears to Syria for the first time, marking another step in the diversification of its agricultural export markets.
