The “Eternal Brotherhood - IV” multinational joint exercise has commenced in Azerbaijan’s capital Baku with the participation of special forces units from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Qatar, Türkiye, and Uzbekistan.
On September 9, the opening ceremony was attended by the leadership of Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Defense, The Caspian Post informs via the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry.
Commander of the Special Forces of Azerbaijan and Hero of the Patriotic War, Major General Alakbar Jahangirov, reported to Minister of Defense, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov on the readiness of the participants.
The ceremony began with a moment of silence in memory of the martyrs from all participating countries, followed by the performance of national anthems and the raising of state flags, accompanied by a military orchestra.
The exercise, which involves armored vehicles, army aviation, and unmanned aerial vehicles, brings together special forces personnel from six nations. Its primary objective is to strengthen cooperation and coordination among allied special forces, improve joint operational capabilities, and exchange experience through combined training.
Addressing the participants, Defense Minister Colonel General Hasanov welcomed the delegations and emphasized the importance of the drills:
“The Eternal Brotherhood - IV joint special forces exercise, being held for the fourth time and becoming a tradition, is a vivid example of military cooperation, friendship, and brotherhood among the participating countries.”
He underlined that such exercises are strategically significant not only for sharing military expertise and developing practical skills but also for bolstering international security and promoting peace in the region.
Highlighting the growing importance of special forces in modern warfare, Hasanov stressed that the training will enhance professionalism, deepen solidarity, and open new opportunities for military cooperation among the partner states.
The minister also provided instructions to ensure the effective organization and conduct of the exercise and to further enhance the combat readiness of the troops. He later inspected the facilities arranged for the participants.
During “Eternal Brotherhood - IV,” the special forces will carry out a range of combat training tasks, including shooting, parachuting, sniper operations, and clearing urban areas of enemy forces.
