Prominent Azerbaijani Composer Uzeyir Hajibayli’s 140th Anniversary Marked in Uzbekistan

A concert dedicated to the 140th anniversary of prominent Azerbaijani composer Uzeyir Hajibayli was held at the Railwaymen's Palace in Kokand, Uzbekistan’s Fergana region.

The event was initiated and organized by the Heydar Aliyev Azerbaijan Cultural Center in Uzbekistan, in collaboration with Kokand State University, The Caspian Post reports, citing local media.

Director of the Cultural Center Akif Marifli, addressing the audience, spoke about the rich cultural legacy of Azerbaijan and emphasized Hajibayli’s pivotal role in the formation of Azerbaijani classical music.

Vice-Rector of Kokand State University Ahmadjan Khusanov noted the deep-rooted cultural ties and musical similarities between the Azerbaijani and Uzbek peoples, which he attributed to their shared historical roots.

The event featured a vibrant concert program, including performances of national dances by the "Azerbaijan" dance group of the Cultural Center and Kokand State University’s ensemble. The highlight of the evening was a staged performance of Hajibayli’s famous operetta “Arshin Mal Alan”, presented by the Center’s youth theater troupe.

The event served as a celebration of common cultural heritage and further strengthened ties between the two brotherly nations
