Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan have discussed expanding cooperation along the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, also known as the Middle Corridor.

Azerbaijani Minister of Digital Development and Transport Rashad Nabiyev shared details of the discussions on the social media platform X, The Caspian Post reports.

During his visit, Nabiyev held meetings with Kazakhstan’s Transport Minister Nurlan Saurabayev, Chairman of the Board of JSC Samruk-Kazyna Nurlan Zhakupov, and Chairman of the Board of JSC Kazakhstan Railways Yelzhas Otynshiyev.

The talks focused on expanding cooperation within the Middle Corridor, investment opportunities related to ferry vessels, increasing road freight transportation, and a project to install a subsea fiber-optic cable along the bottom of the Caspian Sea.

The sides also exchanged views on a draft agreement regarding the development of the Middle Corridor and discussed ongoing efforts to digitalize the transport route.
