Transit traffic between Azerbaijan and Tajikistan increased by 17% during the first eight months of 2026, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Digital Development and Transport Rashad Nabiyev said on Friday.

He made the remarks at an event in Baku marking the 35th anniversary of Tajikistan’s Independence Day, The Caspian Post reports, citing local media.

Nabiyev said bilateral trade turnover increased by 84% in 2025, adding that the positive trend has continued this year.

“Compared with the same period in 2025, our trade turnover increased by 31% in the first seven months of this year,” he added.

According to the minister, cooperation in transport and cargo transportation has been expanding year by year. At the same time, cooperation in digital development is progressing alongside transport ties, with many Azerbaijani companies currently providing services in Tajikistan.

“Alongside cooperation in the economic and transport sectors, we are also successfully developing cultural and friendly ties between our countries,” Nabiyev emphasised.
