Kazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov held a meeting with Adylbek Kasymaliev, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan.
According to the press service of the Kazakh government, trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan stood at 1.6 billion US dollars in 11 months of last year, with Kazakhstan is ready to boost it by over 203 million US dollars, The Caspian Post reports, citing Kazinform.
Agricultural cooperation that accounts for almost 20% of the countries’ mutual trade was in the spotlight of the meeting. The countries’ agricultural trade turnover was up 5.5% and totaled 313.6 million US dollars in 11 months of 2023, with Kazakhstan exported 40,400 tons of grain and 53,200 tons of flour.
The two countries seek to promote interaction between major business through joint construction of a ferroalloy plant in Kyrgyzstan’s Tash-Kumyr as part of investment cooperation.
In general, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan’s industrial trade in 11 months of last year reached 985.5 million US dollars, rising 3.9% on-year, as Kazakhstan’s exports showing a 13.5% growth.
The sides also discussed water and energy cooperation, highlighting that water loss was minimized in the irrigation season last year. Spatial attention was placed to ensure a safe planting season in basins of the Shu and Talas rivers next year.
It was noted that road freight transport between Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan rose 16% to 1.7 million tons in 9 months of 2024.
