Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan Mull Implementation of Energy, Transport Agreements

Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has received Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Rashid Meredov, who arrived in Astana for an official visit.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev pointed out consistent development of the Kazakh-Turkmen relations in all areas, in the spirit of friendship, good-neighborliness and strategic partnership, The Caspian Post reports, citing Kazakh media.

The Kazakh President congratulated Turkmenistan on the commencement of the International Year of Peace and Trust initiated by Ashgabat, which coincided with the 30th anniversary of the country’s neutrality.

Highlighting the importance of Turkmenistan’s peacekeeping initiatives, the Head of State expressed Kazakhstan’s readiness to further provide all-round support to their successful implementation.

Both countries actively maintain a high dynamics of economic interaction and constructively promote the issues representing mutual interest.

In turn, Rashid Meredov conveyed warm greetings to the President of Kazakhstan from the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, and the National Leader of the Turkmen People, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

According to him, the Kazakh-Turkmen cooperation has strategic character as well as firm and long-term perspectives. In this context, the Turkmen delegation confirmed Ashgabat’s commitment to further enhancement of cooperation with Astana on a whole range of interstate ties.

The sides discussed the course of implementation of the agreements reached earlier at the highest level in energy, transit-transport and cultural-humanitarian spheres.
