Türkiye’s COP31 Bid: Antalya Eyes Hosting Major Climate Conference

An event titled "Shaping a Sustainable Future: Türkiye's Climate Action Network" was held as part of the 62nd Session of the UN Subsidiary Bodies on Climate Change (SB62) held in Bonn, Germany.

In her adress, Fatma Varank, Deputy Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change of Türkiye, noted that the climate crisis directly affects the future of generations, economic structures, social justice and global peace, The Caspian Post reports, citing AZERTAC.

“Türkiye is one of the core actors in the region, playing a crucial role in this area,” she emphasized.

The Turkish minister said that her country, under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, is taking vital steps towards the green transformation of key sectors of the economy in line with the goal of environmentally friendly development. She highlighted Türkiye's ambitious 41% greenhouse gas emissions reduction target for 2030, emphasizing its presentation to the UN and the public, along with implementation plans and a long-term roadmap.

Fatma Varank called on all participants to support the holding of COP31 in Antalya, Türkiye.

Then, the event featured a video presentation on Türkiye’s bid to host COP31.
