Baku Hosts the Second High-Level Meeting of Culture Ministers during COP29.

The Second High-Level Meeting of Ministers of Culture for Culture-Based Climate Action, organized by the UAE, Brazil, and Azerbaijan, was held alongside the 29th session of the UN Climate Change Conference (COP29), The Caspian Post reports.

Addressing the event, Azerbaijan`s Minister of Culture Adil Kerimli emphasized the importance of the event. He noted that the international community lauds country’s efforts in the field of green energy.

Salim bin Mohammed Al Malik, Director-General of the ICESCO, underscored the growing impact of the climate change on culture, assuring that his organization would make every effort to protect the cultural heritage for the future generations.

Aruna Francesca Maria Gujral, Director-General of the International Centre for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property (ICCROM) expressed her regret over inability to find the sustainable solutions of the climate crisis.

The meeting participants also heard address by Amna Bint Abdullah al-Dahak, UAE Minister of Climate Change and Environment.

Other speakers at the meeting also included Fuad Naghiyev, Azerbaijan`s Chairman of the State Tourism Agency, Princess Dana Firas of Jordan, President of Petra National Trust and UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador for Cultural Heritage, Prince Rahim Aga Khan, Chairman of Aga Khan Development Network`s Climate and Environment Committee, Aktoty Raimkulova, President of the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation and other ones.

The event then followed by a video highlighting the cultural agenda of COP29.
