Bishkek hosts 14th Kyrgyzstan-EU Human Rights Dialogue
The 14th round of the Dialogue took place in an atmosphere of trust and openness. Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to continued cooperation aimed at achieving tangible results.
Bishkek hosted the 14th round of the Human Rights Dialogue between the Kyrgyz Republic and the European Union on November 21. The EU delegation was led by Dietmar Krissler, Head of the Central Asia Department of the European External Action Service, The Caspian Post reports citing Akipress.
The dialogue’s agenda was comprehensive, addressing key aspects of human rights issues. The Kyrgyz delegation provided an overview of the current state of fundamental rights and freedoms in the country, emphasizing the dialogue’s role as an important mechanism for strengthening the legal system. It was highlighted that the Kyrgyz Republic places a high priority on protecting the rights and interests of all citizens and fostering international cooperation in this sphere.
The head of the EU delegation underscored the significance of President Japarov's visit to Brussels in June 2024, during which the two sides signed the Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement. The priority areas of cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the EU were outlined, including human rights and the fulfillment of obligations under the GSP+ preferential trade regime.
The dialogue also addressed emerging challenges and threats, such as cybersecurity and artificial intelligence.
