Senior-level negotiations between the US and Iran have begun in Switzerland, marking a significant diplomatic effort aimed at ensuring the full implementation of a temporary agreement to end the conflict.
The talks are being held with mediation support from Qatar and Pakistan, underscoring the growing international push to preserve the fragile ceasefire, The Caspian Post reports via Al Jazeera.
The Iranian delegation is led by Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. Iranian officials say the primary goal of the discussions is to secure the complete fulfillment of the interim agreement designed to halt hostilities and lay the groundwork for longer-term stability.
Representing Washington at the negotiations are US Vice President J.D. Vance, President Donald Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff, and Jared Kushner, Trump's son-in-law and senior adviser.
