A magnitude 5.8 earthquake struck Russia’s far eastern Kamchatka region on Saturday morning, according to seismologists.
The tremor was felt in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, with the earthquake’s epicentre located around 140 kilometres east-southeast of the city, The Caspian Post reports, citing Russian media.
The quake occurred at a depth of approximately 35 kilometres.
Authorities have not reported any immediate damage or casualties following the earthquake.
Officials and experts continue to monitor the situation in the region.
