Kazakhstan, Thailand Unveil New 2027–2028 Roadmap to Boost Trade, Investment and Connectivity

Kazakhstan and Thailand have signed a Joint Action Plan for 2027-2028, setting the stage for deeper cooperation across a range of strategic sectors and reinforcing ties between Central Asia and Southeast Asia.

The agreement was announced following talks between Kazakhstan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Yermek Kosherbayev and Thailand’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeo, The Caspian Post reports via Kazinform.

Kosherbayev said that the two sides reviewed the current state of bilateral relations and explored new opportunities to expand cooperation. The newly signed action plan will serve as a roadmap for strengthening partnerships in key areas over the next two years.

Among the sectors identified for closer collaboration are agriculture, the food industry, transport and logistics, green energy, strategic minerals, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges.

Officials highlighted the strategic importance of both countries in their respective regions. Kazakhstan views Thailand as a gateway to the ASEAN market, while Thailand sees Kazakhstan as a key bridge to Central Asia and the Eurasian Economic Union.

The two countries also emphasized the potential for increasing mutual investments and launching new joint projects. Thailand specifically highlighted Kazakhstan’s growing role in international transport and logistics networks, including its importance within the Middle Corridor trade route connecting Asia and Europe.

The new cooperation plan comes as economic ties continue to strengthen. Bilateral trade turnover reached $255 million last year, reflecting steady growth in commercial relations between the two nations.

With the signing of the 2027-2028 roadmap, Kazakhstan and Thailand are aiming to transform growing diplomatic ties into concrete economic and investment opportunities across multiple sectors.
