Azerbaijan, Thailand Seek Deeper Cooperation in Multiple Spheres

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov on Friday met with Issara Sereewatthanawut, Secretary-General of King Prajadhipok's Institute, which operates under the Thai Parliament.

The meeting revolved around the issues of fostering friendly and cooperative relations between Azerbaijan and Thailand, including parliamentary diplomacy, relations between think tanks, and regional issues, The Caspian Post reports, citing the Foreign Ministry.

Mentioning Azerbaijan's active role in international forums, Jeyhun Bayramov highlighted the country's chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement, COP29, and the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA), as well as the contribution of these initiatives to global interaction. Sharing insights into the World Urban Forum (WUF-13), the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), and the CICA summits, scheduled for next year in the country, the minister noted that these events will add value to intraregional and international dialogue.

The meeting also discussed the King Prajadhipok's Institute’s contacts with Azerbaijani think tanks and prospects for cooperation in this format, as well as the organization of upcoming consultations between the two countries’ foreign ministries.

The parties noted the activities of the Parliamentary Network and the Youth Organization of the Non-Aligned Movement, as well as the importance of expanding mutual parliamentary cooperation within the framework of the Azerbaijani Parliament's observer status in the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly.
