The Parliament of Kyrgyzstan has passed a bill in the first reading that bans the filming of police officers.

The bill was supported by 61 members of parliament, with only one MP, Dastan Bekeshev, voting against it, The Caspian Post reports, citing Kyrgyz media.

Several MPs were either absent or chose not to vote.

The bill's initiators aim to impose stricter penalties for hooliganism against individuals performing their official duties, including police officers. If passed, the law would increase the liability for such offenses, specifically targeting acts of aggression or obstruction against law enforcement personnel.
