Global natural gas demand is projected to increase by 28% to 5.4 trillion cubic meters by 2055, Kremlin aide Yury Ushakov told journalists on Monday.
“The need for the [Gas Exporting Countries] Forum as a traditional mechanism is quite significant. Given the growth in global natural gas demand, it is forecast to rise from the current 4.2 trillion cubic meters to 5.4 trillion cubic meters, representing an increase of about 28%,” Ushakov said, The Caspian Post reports, citing TASS.
The Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) comprises Russia, Algeria, Venezuela, Egypt, Iran, Qatar, Libya, Nigeria, Trinidad and Tobago, Equatorial Guinea, and the United Arab Emirates.
The eight observer countries are Angola, Azerbaijan, Iraq, Malaysia, Mauritania, Mozambique, Peru, and Senegal.
