SOCAR Türkiye Enerji, a subsidiary of Azerbaijan's energy giant SOCAR, has completed the acquisition of the 870-MW Gama Enerji İç Anadolu power plant in Türkiye from Gama Enerji.
The company confirmed that the Central Anatolian combined-cycle gas turbine power plant officially began operating under SOCAR Türkiye Enerji’s management on February 2, signalling the full completion of the purchase and transfer process, The Caspian Post reports, citing local media.
The facility is regarded as one of Türkiye’s strategically important energy hubs and plays a vital role in ensuring the reliability and security of the country’s electricity supply.
According to SOCAR Türkiye, the acquisition strengthens its existing operations in energy supply and trading, finalizes the creation of an integrated “gas-to-electricity” value chain, and enhances portfolio flexibility and market stability by enabling electricity trading backed by its own generation capacity.
The agreement for the 870-MW plant was initially signed on December 23, 2025, during the 2nd Azerbaijan-Türkiye Investment Forum. Under the deal, 100% ownership of the facility has been transferred to SOCAR Türkiye Enerji in a transaction valued at $225 million.
The investment is expected to expand SOCAR’s presence in Türkiye’s power generation sector and further reinforce strategic energy cooperation between Azerbaijan and Türkiye.
