Georgia Holds Local Elections Amid Boycott and Planned Protests

On October 4, Georgia is holding local self-government elections, with several opposition parties announcing a boycott. Meanwhile, a large-scale protest rally is scheduled to take place in Tbilisi.

After casting his vote, ruling party founder Bidzina Ivanishvili told journalists he would not take questions, only make a statement, The Caspian Post reports citing foreign media.

“For 13 years now, Georgian Dream has been in power and has achieved impressive success in every direction, but the greatest achievement is that both our representatives and society have learned how to analyze and distinguish white from black,” Ivanishvili said.
