Georgia’s Education Ministry, as part of its wider education reform, plans to impose a strict ban on mobile phone use during school hours, Education Minister Givi Mikanadze announced during the presentation of the new framework.
Mikanadze said the decision will improve students’ concentration and ensure full participation in the classroom. The reform will introduce a dedicated set of standards outlining how the restriction will be implemented across schools, The Caspian Post reports citing Georgia Today.
As the minister stated, the rules will be designed to avoid disrupting the learning process while still allowing essential communication. He emphasized that students will retain the ability to contact parents or other important individuals when necessary, with the system structured to balance safety, accessibility and academic focus.
