Georgian Railways transported 6.9 million tons of freight during the first six months of 2026, marking a 10% increase compared to the same period last year.

The company said such freight volumes had not been recorded in recent decades, The Caspian Post reports, citing Sputnik Georgia.

According to the company’s report, new categories of cargo that had previously either not been transported or moved only in limited quantities were introduced to rail shipments between January and June.

The company also reported strong financial results. Georgian Railways’ revenue reached 352 million lari ($128 million), representing a 19% increase compared to the same period in 2025.

Adjusted operating EBITDA rose by 27% to 92.2 million lari ($33.5 million), while total EBITDA increased by 84% to 137 million lari ($49.8 million).

Net profit for the first half of the year amounted to 112.3 million lari ($40.8 million), a 74% increase compared to the same period in 2025. The EBITDA margin also grew from 25% to 45%.
