Iran has named a new secretary of its top security body, signaling a key shift in the country’s leadership structure.
President Masoud Pezeshkian has appointed Mohammad-Bagher Zolghadr as secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, replacing the late Ali Larijani, The Caspian Post reports via Iranian media.
The appointment, confirmed by presidential deputy Mehdi Tabatabaei, was approved by Iran’s Supreme Leader, underscoring its political significance.
Zolghadr is a veteran figure in Iran’s security establishment, having held senior roles within the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and previously serving as deputy interior minister for security affairs. He has also occupied multiple positions within the country’s armed forces command structure.
