Iran’s powerful Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) says it launched a large-scale drone and missile assault on a United States air base in Bahrain, marking a dramatic escalation in Gulf tensions.
The IRGC claimed it fired 20 drones and three missiles at the US military facility in the Sheikh Isa area. Iranian military officials alleged that the strike destroyed the base’s main command and headquarters building and ignited fuel storage tanks, The Caspian Post reports via foreign media.
The targeted installation is widely understood to be near Sheikh Isa Air Base, a key site used by US forces in the region.
So far, there has been no immediate confirmation or response from Bahraini authorities or the United States regarding the reported attack.
The claimed strike comes amid a rapidly intensifying cycle of retaliation across the Gulf. In recent days, Iran has vowed to target US military assets following joint US-Israeli operations on Iranian territory, raising fears that the confrontation could spiral into a wider regional conflict.
