Iran has carried out the execution of Siavash Jamshidi, who was convicted in connection with anti-government protests that began in December 2025.

Jamshidi was convicted of moharebeh, a legal charge translated by Iranian authorities as “waging war against God,” as well as conspiracy against national security and weapons-related offenses, according to Mizan.

He was accused of firing a firearm at police during the demonstrations.

Jamshidi faced additional convictions unrelated to the protests, including fraud, threats, theft, illegal possession of a firearm and other offenses.

The protests began in December 2025 amid economic grievances and concerns over the cost of living, before expanding into large-scale demonstrations in January 2026. Iranian authorities have attributed much of the violence to what they described as terrorist activity, while foreign-based human rights organizations have disputed the government's account and accused security forces of using force against protesters.

Human rights groups have reported executions of people convicted in connection with the unrest. The latest reports have also drawn attention to the continued use of the death penalty in cases linked to the protests.

The execution of Jamshidi was reported by Iranian authorities on October 3, 2026.
