Iran on Tuesday suspended train operations along major railway routes in Mashhad and Khuzestan provinces after warnings from Israel about potential attacks on infrastructure, according to Iranian media reports.
All train services on the Mashhad railway line have been canceled “until further notice,” The Caspian Post reporte, citing Anadolu Agency.
The governor of Mashhad stated that the measure was implemented “based on the unethical warning from the Zionist entity (Israel)” and was intended to ensure public safety.
In southern Iran, a deputy governor of Khuzestan announced that train services on the South and Zagros railway lines have likewise been halted for the same reason.
The suspension followed just hours after the Israeli military issued a warning advising Iranians to refrain from traveling by train and to stay away from train stations nationwide.
