Iran Seeks Closer Integration with Eurasian Economic Union

Head of Iran’s Trade Promotion Organization (TPO), Mohammad-Ali Dehghan-Dehnavi, has underscored the importance of strengthening cooperation between the Islamic Republic and the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU), which operates as a unified single market.

Dehghan-Dehnavi made the remarks during a meeting with Andrey Slepnev, Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission, in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan, The Caspian Post reports via Iranian media.

The TPO chief joined First Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref and Minister of Industry, Mining and Trade Mohammad Atabek to participate in the EEU Heads of Government meeting.

Both sides reaffirmed their readiness to expand trade, discussed future strategies for deeper cooperation, and reviewed mechanisms for implementing the free trade agreement between Iran and the EEU.

The EEU is an intergovernmental economic bloc comprising Belarus, Kazakhstan, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, and Armenia, while Iran, Uzbekistan, Moldova, and Cuba currently hold observer status.

During the visit, Iran’s First Vice President reiterated Tehran’s ambition to secure permanent membership in the EEU, stressing that “Developing relations with neighboring countries, particularly Eurasia, remains a top priority for the current administration.”
