Yair Netanyahu, the son of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, was urgently brought back to Israel from Florida following a threat to his life from Iran.
Shin Bet (the Israel Security Agency) reportedly confirmed that there had been a serious threat to harm the 35-year-old Netanyahu, The Jerusalem Post reports.
According to a US law enforcement source, American authorities had been aware of the Iranian plans since December last year. During Yair Netanyahu’s recent stay in Miami, Iranian agents were reportedly already “on the ground,” monitoring his residence and movements.
Last week, the Israeli prime minister referred in an interview to an Iranian assassination attempt targeting one of his sons, though he did not identify which son.
