Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has said Tehran sees no reason to enter negotiations with the United States amid the ongoing tensions.
In a live interview with NBC, Araghchi stated that Iran is “not asking for a ceasefire” and rejected the idea of renewed talks with Washington, The Caspian Post reports.
“We don’t see any reason why we should negotiate with the US,” he said. “When we negotiated with them twice, every time, they attacked us in the middle of negotiations.”
Araghchi also addressed concerns about the status of the Strait of Hormuz, stressing that Iran has not closed the key maritime route.
According to him, the decline in traffic through the strait is due to shipping companies and tanker operators refusing to pass through the waterway amid the escalating conflict.
