Iran has prepared the infrastructure needed to import electricity from Türkiye through its national power grid to supply the country’s largest petrochemical complexes, Mohammad Allahdad, head of Iran's electricity company Tavanir, said.
Allahdad said that damage to utility infrastructure at petrochemical facilities during the fighting has placed significant additional pressure on the country’s electricity network, Iran International reports.
During the summer, the volume of electricity supplied to industrial facilities was six times higher than in previous years, he said.
Meanwhile, power plants owned by Iran’s industrial sector, with a combined capacity of approximately 4,700 megawatts, are currently out of operation.
The outages have forced Tehran to seek additional electricity supplies from Ankara to help meet domestic demand.
