Iran has called on all United Nations member states to reject a draft resolution introduced by the United States together with its Gulf allies, which seeks to pressure Tehran into guaranteeing safe passage for commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.
In a post on X, Iran’s permanent mission to the UN has described the initiative as “flawed” and “politically motivated,” The Caspian Post reports.
The permanent mission stated that "the only viable solution in the Strait of Hormuz is clear: a permanent end to the war, the lifting of the maritime blockade, and the restoration of normal passage."
The mission further accused the US of attempting to use the resolution to “advance its political agenda and legitimise unlawful actions - not to resolve the crisis,” arguing that the proposal does not genuinely aim to address the underlying tensions surrounding maritime security in the region.
The only viable solution in the Strait of Hormuz is clear: a permanent end to the war, the lifting of the maritime blockade, and the restoration of normal passage.
