Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said on Sunday that negotiations between Tehran and Washington have made progress.

The Iranian President wrote on X, "The Iran-U.S. talks, held through the follow-up efforts of friendly governments in the region, were a step forward. Dialogue has always been our strategy for peaceful resolution," The Caspian Post reports, citing foreign media.

He added, "Our logic on the nuclear issue is the explicit rights under the Non-Proliferation Treaty. The Iranian nation has always responded to respect with respect, but it does not tolerate the language of force."

On Friday, Iranian officials said that indirect talks with the US started with a meeting between Iran's foreign minister and his Omani counterpart.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi is in charge of the Iranian delegation, and President Trump's Middle East envoy, Steve Witkoff, is in charge of the US side. A US official told the Wall Street Journal that the commander of US Central Command is expected to join the talks.
