A senior adviser to the commander-in-chief of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) warned that Tehran would strike economic and oil facilities in neighboring Arab countries if its key centers come under attack.

Ebrahim Jabbari said Iran had closed the Strait of Hormuz and would not allow ships to pass, citing what he described as US dependence on oil supplies, The Caspian Post reports, citing Iran International.

“America is thirsty for oil. Let them know that for now we have closed the Strait of Hormuz and will not allow ships to pass. We have also announced to the world that any country that wants to take fuel from here, we will strike,” Jabbari said.

He added that several ships had already been targeted.
