Iran’s former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei approved a military action plan in advance in case of a potential attack by the US or Israel.

The statement was made by Spokesman for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Ali Mohammad Naeini, who said that the strategy had been endorsed by Khamenei before his death, The Caspian Post reports via Russian media.

Naeini noted that the plans were developed to respond to any large-scale military escalation.

“The US failed to consider that our martyred Imam had already defined the doctrine of war, which envisioned a conflict taking on a regional dimension,” Naeini said.

He added that operational plans had been reviewed and fully approved before the “martyrdom” of the leader of the revolution, ensuring that Iran’s military forces would be prepared if a confrontation with the US or Israel were to occur.
