US Vice President JD Vance has arrived in Switzerland for high-level discussions with Iranian representatives, as diplomatic efforts between Washington and Tehran enter a critical new phase.

Vance landed in Switzerland on June 21 and is expected to remain in the country for one or two days while participating in talks aimed at advancing dialogue between the two sides, The Caspian Post reports via Interfax.

Before departing, the vice president expressed cautious optimism about regional developments, saying the situation regarding the ceasefire in Lebanon is improving and that a wider escalation has been avoided.

Vance also emphasized the importance of using Switzerland's meetings to organize future rounds of negotiations with Iran, both at the level of senior delegation leaders and technical experts.

The vice president confirmed that discussions with the Iranian delegation will focus on two of the most sensitive issues in US-Iran relations: Tehran’s nuclear program and the ongoing situation in Lebanon.
