A fresh wave of arrests targeting students involved in protests has been reported in multiple Iranian cities, including Borujerd, Izeh, and Rafsanjan.

Among those detained is 17-year-old Arian Movafaghi from Borujerd, who has been charged with “moharebeh,” a term meaning waging war against God, The Caspian Post reports, citing Iran International.

He participated in demonstrations on January 8 and was arrested at his home on January 14. Following his arrest, he was transferred to Khorramabad prison.

In Rafsanjan, a local resident informed Iran International that a 15-year-old student was detained after defending Pahlavi at school. The teenager was reportedly held for two days and has not spoken publicly since being released.

Meanwhile, in the southern city of Izeh, members of the Basij forces recently entered a public boys’ school and took at least two students into custody, according to the messages received.

There are no verified statistics regarding the total number of children and teenagers who have been detained. However, the Coordinating Council of Iranian Teachers’ Trade Associations previously stated that 200 students were killed by security forces during the recent wave of protests.
