In an exclusive report on Thursday, Reuters disclosed a severe threat issued by Iran to regional countries, reporting that Tehran has explicitly warned its neighbors that if they fail to convince Donald Trump to halt U.S. attacks on Iran and seek an end to the war through negotiations, it will target their oil, electricity, and water infrastructure.

Citing a senior Iranian official, the report confirmed that these stern warnings included potential attacks on “energy facilities, refineries, electricity grids, water infrastructure, transport networks, and oil fields” belonging to Washington’s closest Arab allies in the region, Iranwire reported.

According to the informed source, whose identity was not disclosed, this message forms part of a broader effort by Iran to deter the United States from taking further military action. The warning was conveyed to these countries through a flurry of high-level diplomatic contacts. On July 28, Donald Trump threatened to strike Iran’s energy network and infrastructure.

Citing two senior Iranian officials, two Gulf sources, and a senior regional diplomat with knowledge of the discussions, Reuters reported that Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi spoke with his counterparts in Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Qatar, as well as Pakistan’s army chief. According to the report, Araqchi urged Washington’s Gulf allies to use their influence with Trump to dissuade him from launching renewed strikes, warning that any attack on Iran would prompt retaliation against U.S. assets and critical energy facilities across the Gulf.

The report noted that Araqchi delivered a consistent message across all his conversations: “We’re ready to retaliate, but finding a diplomatic solution is the best way to avoid wider escalation and destruction across the region.”

Reuters concluded that Tehran intends to leverage the vulnerability of Gulf states, forcing regional governments to confront the reality that any renewed military confrontation between the United States and the Islamic Republic could place their critical economic infrastructure directly in the line of fire.

A day after threatening to destroy Iran’s energy infrastructure, Trump announced that he had postponed the attack at the request of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and agreed to return to the negotiating table.

Another senior Iranian official who spoke to Reuters stated that the governments of Qatar, Oman, and Saudi Arabia have all urged Washington to resume talks with Tehran and avert renewed conflict, especially amid Iranian warnings that another round of U.S. strikes could “turn the region into a fireball.”
