A rescue helicopter crashed in Iran’s Lorestan Province, killing at least two on board, the caretaker director-general of the Iranian province of Lorestan Red Crescent confirmed.
Speaking to Iranian national TV on Friday night, Ali Mohammadi said the helicopter belonged to the Iranian Red Crescent Society in Kermanshah province and had been sent to rescue a climber, a lost woman, who had asked for help in a mountainous area in Azna County in Lorestan Province on Friday noon, The Caspian Post reports, citing Iranian media.
Mohammadi said that the copter was trying to land in the area when it crashed, killing the pilot and injuring some members of the rescu team.
A local official said that 10 rescue team had been sent to the area after the crash.
Four crew members and five members of rescue team were on board the chopper.
