The West Siberian Transport Prosecutor's Office has announced that a Borus Airlines An-2 light aircraft crash-landed in Russia’s Krasnoyarsk territory, killing two people on board.
The incident took place around 5:04 p.m. (GMT+3) in the Yermakovsky District, approximately 40 kilometers from the village of Tanyzebey, The Caspian Post reports, citing the Interstate Aviation Committee.
"According to available information, both pilots on board were killed and the aircraft was completely destroyed," the statement said.
Emergency response teams were quickly dispatched to the crash site. According to the regional Ministry of Emergency Situations, nine personnel-including five technical specialists-and one piece of equipment were deployed. Additional rescue and medical teams also arrived on the scene to support the operation.
Investigators are working to establish the circumstances that led to the crash. Meanwhile, the Abakan Transport Prosecutor’s Office has launched a review to assess whether flight safety regulations were properly followed.
The An-2, a Soviet-era biplane often used for short regional flights, agricultural tasks, and utility purposes, has a long history of rugged service but is occasionally involved in incidents, particularly in remote areas.
