Russia has reportedly approved a deal to supply Iran with 90 launch units for helicopter-launched guided missiles.
Financial Times (FT) reviewed internal production documents from Russian defense manufacturer Vympel.
The documents show that in May 2024, the company sent a letter requesting an acceleration of component deliveries for the missile launch systems. Attached was a production plan for 2024-2025 listing a foreign customer identified by the code name “K-10,” with 90 launch units allocated to the buyer.
Russia’s state arms exporter Rosoboronexport uses the code “K-10” to refer to Iran.
The launch systems are designed for LMUR missiles, also known as the Izdeliye 305. These precision-guided weapons can strike moving targets and are used on Russia’s Mi-28 attack helicopters, which are also operated by Iran.
However, the documents do not establish whether the ordered equipment was actually delivered to Tehran.
The materials were provided by a Ukrainian private intelligence organization.
